Century Taylor

Century Ann Taylor, 72, of Ocean View died Dec. 19, 2016, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 22, 1944, in Santa Monica, Calif., she was a private home health nurse.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Jan. 14 at St. Benedict’s Church lot at Honaunau beach with a 10 a.m. celebration of life. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Michael Gomez of Honamalino, Daniel (Monica) Taylor of Pahoa, Randy (Allyson) Morris of Kealakekua, and Henry Ivy of Ocean View; brother, Patrick (Kara) Robinson of Bellvue, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous niece, nephews, and cousins.

Carolyn Lau

Carolyn Kehaulani Lau, 70, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 25, 2016, in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and seamstress.

A celebration of life visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Feb. 25 at the Kona Palisades Pavilion with an 11 a.m. service. Lunch will follow. Casual attire requested.

She is survived by daughters, Rima (David) Gaspar, Sara (Tim) Song, Charmaine (Andrew) Lincoln, Suzette (Wendell) Gaspar and Christen (Chris) Tangaro Sr.; hanai son, Shannon Paul (Shawna) Gaspar; brother, Wallace MacDonald; sister, Barbara Cambra, 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jean Acevedo

Jean Elizabeth Acevedo, 72, of Hilo died Dec. 27, 2016, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, she was an elementary, high school and university teacher of English and Spanish. Private services.

She is survived by daughter, Rose (Gabriel Olson) Acevedo of Volcano, one granddaughter; brothers, John (Marjo) Gregory Little of Wisconsin, William Lawrence Little of Kihei, Maui, Dean (Yvonne Mokihana Calizar) Peter Little of Washington; sisters, Margaret Jo (William Bronn) Little of Minnesota, Catherine (James) Louise Malec of Minnesota; numerous stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews and hanai family.

Edwin Winkler

Edwin Elijah Winkler, 92, of Mountian View died Dec. 30, 2016, at Yukio Okutsu State Veteran’s Home. Born July 29, 1924, in Hillsboro, Ill., he retired as a sales representative for Rebecca Farms and was a former sergeant for the Army Air Corps/ Air Force. Private services.

He is survived by daughter, Nanette (John Schwarze) Cothran of Mountain View; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren.
